Location:  Central America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Costa Rica and Honduras.

Coordinates:  13 00 N, 85 00 W

Language:  Spanish (official).  English and indigenous dialects are spoken on the Atlantic coast.

Climate:  Nicaragua has a lush tropical climate with two distinctive seasons. A wet rainy season from May to December, and a dry season from January to mid May. We find in Nicaraguan territory, three main climatic zones:  a wet tropical, a wet and dry tropical, and a mild highland. Average annual precipitation in Managua is 1,140 mm (35 inches) and average temperature ranges are from 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) to 44 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit) all year.

We are blessed with perpetual offshore winds in the southern region of our country, allowed by Lake Nicaragua (Lago Cocibolca).  This phenomenon whereby the dominant NE trade winds from the Caribbean are accelerated across Nicaragua’s narrow land mass, by the absence of mountains in the southern region and by the presence of Lake Cocibolca, a massive inland lake. As the NE trades sweep across the narrow isthmus of the country towards the Pacific Ocean, they blow straight into the approaching SW ground swells. The offshore winds groom these swells into clean hollow lines and almond-shaped barrels, at the many points which are abundant in Nicaragua’s Pacific coastline.  With solid S swells and some of the best points, rock reefs and sandbars in Central America, this is a recipe for perfection.

Nicaragua is the ultimate surfing frontier in Central America. Its' approximately 300 + kilometers of Pacific Coastline is a swell magnet for SW and S hemi swells which average 4-8 feet, and sometimes up to 10-15ft + on the biggest swells. Nicaragua is yet un-crowded.  We are privileged to surf and enjoy world class waves in a vast array of beaches and surf spots, which are spread out all over Nicaragua’s pacific coastline. Our primary swell source is SW and S hemisphere ground swell, for which the orientation of our coastline is ideal. With solid and consistent swell, we hold some of the best surf in Central America.  Surf Nicaragua!
